How the Stock Average Calculator Works

When the same stock is purchased at different prices, the average purchase price is calculated using a weighted average. Each purchase contributes to the total investment according to the number of shares bought.

Average Purchase Price = Σ (Shares × Purchase Price) ÷ Σ Shares

For example, buying 100 shares at 100 currency units and 50 shares at 80 currency units gives a total investment of 14,000 and 150 shares, producing an average purchase price of 93.33 currency units per share.
